Heating without oil, gas, and price shocks
A heat pump extracts most of the heating energy from the ambient air or the ground — you only pay for the electricity to run it. Depending on the system and building, one kilowatt hour of electricity turns into three to five kilowatt hours of heat.

The most common questions upfront
- Does this also work in an old building?
- Often yes — the crucial factor is the required flow temperature, not the year of construction. An installer will check this on site.
- Do I need underfloor heating?
- No. A heat pump also works efficiently with sufficiently large radiators.
- How loud is such a device?
- Modern air source heat pumps in night mode are often below the noise level of a fridge at a distance of one metre. The placement is decisive.
- How long does the installation take?
- The replacement itself usually takes two to four days. You should plan for a few weeks from the quote to commissioning.

The federal budget for the Sanierungsoffensive (refurbishment campaign) has been exhausted since 10 July 2026, new applications are currently not possible. The programmes of the federal states continue independently of this — which ones are eligible for you depends on the federal state, old system, and building.

How many companies will contact me?

Am I committed to anything?
No. You can compare the quotes at your leisure and decide for yourself if and with whom you want to proceed. No contract is created by the request for quotes.
How quickly will I get a response?
Usually, the first installer will contact you within one to two working days — mostly by phone to clarify the technical details.
What public subsidies are available in Austria?
The federal budget for the Sanierungsoffensive (refurbishment campaign) has been exhausted since 10 July 2026 — new applications for the Kesseltausch (boiler replacement) are currently not possible, and the Sanierungsbonus (refurbishment bonus) was already closed in February 2026. Applications already submitted remain valid. The public subsidies of the federal states continue independently of this and differ significantly depending on the federal state. The installers know the current status and will support you with the application.
